Before you book
Questions
The eight we are asked at the door, answered the way we answer them at the door. If yours is not here, telephone +1 876 923 7740 and ask.
Why do I pay for a diagnostic before you quote?
Because a quote made from a description over the phone is a guess, and a guess is how a 12,000 job becomes a 60,000 bill halfway through. The check is 4,500 and it comes off the bill if you have the work done here, so if we are right it costs you nothing.
Does the quote ever move?
Only if we telephone you first and you say yes. If something is found under a part that had to come off anyway, you get a call with the extra price before a spanner goes near it, and you can tell us to stop and put it back together.
Do I really get the old parts back?
Every time, in a bag with your registration on it, on the bench when you collect. The two exceptions are a battery, where the shop pays a core refund we pass to you, and an air-conditioning regas, where nothing comes off the car.
New parts, aftermarket or used?
You choose, and the quote shows what each one costs. We fit original or a brand we know for anything that steers, stops or holds the wheels on. For trim, lamps and body parts a good used part is often sensible and we will say when.
What is the warranty?
Six months on parts we supply and three months on our labour, from the date on the invoice. A battery carries its own 18 months. Bring the invoice and we look at it again, on our ramp time, not yours.
Can I wait while it is done?
For anything under an hour, yes: there is a bench in the shade by the office and the kettle works. For a booked check you can stand at the ramp and watch, which is the point of booking a time rather than leaving the car all day.
What if the car will not move?
Telephone us. We will come for it inside 15 km of Spanish Town Road, or send a wrecker we use and put the cost on your invoice at what he charges us.
Only two ramps — how long is the wait?
Two ramps is two cars at a time, so the diary is real. Checks are usually free the same week and often the same day; a clutch or a timing belt takes a ramp for two days, so those get booked ahead. The day strip on the booking page shows exactly what is left.
